Saturday June 4th, for the first time in 164 years of history, Riva Shipyard has opened its own gates for the public. More than three thousands visitors, coming from Italy and abroad, could walk through the production lines, see the models produced at the Iseo lake (the ones till 60’, the others originate at the new Shipyard in La Spezia), visit the photographic exhibition organized in occasion of the creation of Riva Historical Archive, and admire the historical boats gathered at the platform for the concomitant meeting supported by Asdec, Association which promotes the recover and the knowledge of the historical boats. It was given to the visitors, a written guide to accompany each one step by step along the almost one thousand meters of path. Numerous were the former Riva employees, now retired, as well as young and youthful ones, astonished especially with the new models. Replete was also the local authorities attendance. In the evening, during the gala dinner at “Villa Surre”, reserved for the participants of the historical meeting, was announced that in face of the great interest of the public and media, the Riva Open Day, in collaboration with the Riva-Asdec meeting, would be an annual appointment, every first weekend of June.
